Hands off!

Real ‘table £14m Woodgate bid’ [Guardian]
Bloody hell. Of all the things we don’t need right now, one of our star players being unsettled has to be near the top of the list. Can’t they just take one of our midfielders? I hear Kieron Dyer’s going cheap on Ebay. Actually, I take it back. £10m is far from cheap for someone of his calibre. I still wouldn’t boo him, mind. Not while he’s playing for us, anyway. ;)

Probably not a bad deal to be honest. He's quite injury-prone after all -- I don't know the exact stats, but I don't think he's played more than 30 games in the 20-odd months he's been at NUFC. Only hope Bobby Robson invests the money wisely...

True (it's 29 games, I think), but I'd still rather keep him and hope he stays (err... gets) fit. I can't see us getting a replacement of the same quality. In fact, Woodgate's probably the only centre half I've ever watched at St James's who's made me think "Yes, this lad's world class". While I'm wary of having another injury-prone player on the books, I just can't face the idea of losing someone we've waited so long for. :-/
